H ubby and I went to the Pink concert last night so decided to get to Burswood early as parking was going to be a nightmare.

We did not have a booking so rocked up to the front desk at YU to see if we could get some lunch. It was 2.30pm and they said they closed at 2.45 so yes we could still have lunch there. I had only been once before years ago when it was called GENTING PALACE and it was a memorable dining experience back then. Anyway in we walked and we sat at a booth type table which was cosy and comfortable. We ordered a bottle of NZ Catalina Sounds Sav Blanc ($42), stuffed chicken wings with King prawn, Sweet corn & Shredded chicken soup, Dried scallop & golden mushroom soup, Fillet steak with cantonese sauce & special fried rice.

All the food was top notch in presentation and quality. It is not your usual local so so chinese restaurant it is Chinese fine dining at its best but it is EXPENSIVE but as it is my birthday tomorrow we justified the occasion. All up the bill was $145.00.

We will definately go back but I will book next time as it was pretty rushed as the Chef wanted to go so they apologised but had to bring the food out pretty much all together.

Love the food at Yu...! If you have a chance you must try the chinese pancakes... awesome...! and their fried rice is fried with awesome sauce...

Also if you enjoy chinese fine dining you have to try Grand Palace on the Esplanade.. =)

Thanks for the tip re Grand Palace restaurant, I have heard its very good and I do have it on my BIG list so I move it up a few spots LOL.

I also used to love the Jade Court on Stirling Highway, Cottesloe but the last 2 times I went there I felt it had gone down a bit and as it is far from being my local (I live in Craigie!!) I don't feel its worth travelling that far unless its top notch. Locally we don't have any fantastic places, most are just ok but when you have had fantastic food its hard to settle for the ordinary which is in abundance in the Joondalup area.

Hi Tony,

I really enjoyed the Pink concert. Hubby and I actually got free tix from my cousin so that was a bonus. Hubby is more of a fan than me but I am glad I got to go. Just wish we had a better venue than The Dome though!!.
