Perth Food Review

I f you like arrogant, nonchalant waiters, then Xpresso Café in Mount Lawley is the place for you! On Monday night, my husband and I went to this Café. On our first visit several months ago, we were met with a very enthusiastic manager who took our order and seated us promptly. What a shame it wasn’t like that last week. Obviously, it was the manager’s night off! We stood for about 5 minutes before informing the waiter that we would manage to find a table ourselves…thanks. He didn’t even stop his conversation with another staff member to acknowledge us. We waited about 30 minutes before we were approached to take our order. I asked a simple question before I ordered: “Is this sauce cream or tomato based?” The waiter didn’t know the answer. He left our table to find out from the chef. He came back from the kitchen, walked past my husband and I, fetched plates and water for another table. Then he began taking an order for a different couple that had arrived well after us. When I informed him that he was already half way through taking OUR order and we were still waiting, he shrugged and said he’d be with us in a minute. Sadly, a minute was longer than I was prepared to wait after such appalling treatment. I know that one bad experience doesn’t make a bad restaurant, but there are too many other restaurants around for me to bother giving this one the benefit of the doubt. We didn’t actually taste the food in Xpresso Café that night. But if it was ANYTHING like the service, it’s probably just as well.
