T he Witch’s Cauldron Restaurant has an outstanding reputation; it’s the winner of numerous restaurant industry and popular choice awards. Once again it proved itself to be consistently good in all areas of our dining experience.

The restaurant has a stylish atmosphere and would be equally appropriate for group dinning with the comfortable booths or for couples. We sat downstairs on our most recent visit which in my opinion is preferable to upstairs as it doesn’t have quite the same ambiance. The service from start to finish was friendly and professional.

For entree we choose to share the garlic prawns. These are widely regarded as the original and best in Perth and with good reason. They certainly lived up to this reputation and the tender prawns were consumed with great pleasure with all remaining garlic infusion oil, that had a nice hint of chili, being mopped up enthusiastically with chunks of fresh bread.

For main course my partner could not go past the Gabrielle. He reported back that the eye fillet stuffed with garlic prawns and then smothered in a delicate sauce and more prawns was as angelic as its name would suggest. It was cooked to just as requested, medium rare. I did manage to steal a little morsel and agree that it was beautifully tender and tasty. I ordered an old favorite, Catch Joinville. On this occasion the catch of the day was Pink Snapper or King Snapper, I’m not quite sure because it was called both by different waiters. None the less it was beautiful moist fish covered with a fantastic creamy sauce and topped with prawns – yes more prawns!

Although we were both incredibly full at this stage something possessed us to order a desert to share. We decided on Jamaican Ice Cream – vanilla ice cream with a rich Tia Maria sauce. The desert was nice, though I would not say it was worth the ten dollar price tag.

Although this restaurant is probably at the higher end of the price scale (be warned a premium beer will set you back $8.00 for example) I would highly recommend it and feel that it is worth the money. Our meal at The Witch’s Cauldron Restaurant was excellent from beginning to end and it’s hard to be critical of a restaurant that seems to consistently operate at this standard.

My favourite restaurant. The food is always consistant and they can cook fish like no other restaurant in Perth. The garlic prawns are to die for and the pumpkin soup is yummy. ...[more]
I had been given a recommendation to visit the Witch's Cauldron from my partner who had been there years ago. I was not impressed when I finally took the opportunity to try it out....[more]
