6 of us went to the Wild Fig Cafe for an expected delicious breakfast over looking the Indian Ocean. But were we disappointed.

The meal came in three different stages, with two getting muesli and fruit salad first, then two big breakfasts and an eggs florentine 15 minutes later and the last breakfast and another side plate of bacon for one of the first diners 10 minutes after the previous meal. Did they misplace our order? It looked like it as people who sat 10 minutes after us were served their hot breakfasts before us. And when the last big breakfast came one of the eggs was fried to overdone - broken yoke cooked to rock hardness. And when it was pointed out it took them another 10 minutes to come back with another meal, this time the bottom of the eggs were cook crisp and the top was undercooked. This final meal arrive 40 minutes after we placed the order.

Would I go back? No. The service was very ordinary and the last meal indicated a severe lack of care. Try somewhere else, possibly Bada Bing in Woodlands.

We had been to The Wild Fig for a wedding reception on a 40deg day - wow! Food was great, service impecable (the head waitress made sure everyone on her staff was organised and we all received our meals in timely order), and the view teriffic. The only gripe is the uncomfortable chairs.
Had breakfast with a party of three prior to that and food/service/price passed our test too.
Recently (Aug 2004) I had a birthday dinner their which was amazingly different in terms of atmosphere (and the weather!). Nonetheless, service was great - very attentive and down-to-earth. Have I mentioned the food - just fabulous. The chef knows what he's doing and we couldn't fault it. The chicken with mango was changed to chicken with pepper sauce and no questions were asked. Special fish of the day was cooked just right. Side of veges cooked to crispy perfection and chai & dessert ended a lovely night.
Again, the uncomfortable wooden chairs need something - maybe we'll bring a cushion next time.
Would we go back - for sure.

I have been to NV a couple of times and it's a great cafe, but the last time I went wasn't so special. A couple of friends and I went for a coffee in the evening, and although the hot drinks were lovely, the service was average. I presume it was a manager (or someone that wanted to be the manager) who served us- she was abrupt and cranky, and hardly made eye contact. People who are in this position should not dare lower their service like this lady did. Very unproffessional and unwelcoming. If you don't like the work- find another job. You have to have a certain personality to work in this industry- and i dont care if your a 15, 25 or 40 years of age- and if you own the cafe itself- all staff should ensure their customer service is 110% every time.
