V illa D’Este in West Perth is a fantastic restaurant to choose if you are celebrating a special occasion. It is fine dining at its best from the white table cloths and napkins to the waiters in half tuxedos, everything is just so. We were greeted and promptly seated before being served complimentary canapés. The atmosphere is lovely in this old West Perth home turned restaurant you feel immediately comfortable in the small dining rooms with just the right amount of elegance (although they could have turned the air-conditioning down it was a little nippy). We chose not to have entrée but saved ourselves for main course only having some herb bread, which as far as bread goes was excellent. This was a good decision, the mains were superb. I out ordered on this occasion with the Quail. It was a special of the day but the way the menu is structured is that all dishes that come from the wood fired rotisserie are specials so there is a fair chance that this dish would be feature regularly. The quail, although on the bone (I have had boneless quail and it is a bit more manageable) was succulent and flavorsome in an herb and butter base sauce. This dish really was a standout and especially enjoyable. My partner ordered the beef fillets topped with a porcini and herbs mixture (Due Gemelli alla Montanara). This dish was also excellent, as you would expect cooked to perfection, rare. We ordered a side of vegetables of the day, I would advise this as the mains don’t come with any accompaniments just what is stated on the menu. Villa D’Este serves superb traditional Italian so don’t expect too much innovation just incredible delicious food. In all the night was excellent, the service professional but friendly and the food was amazing. Obviously all this comes a price, it is expensive with entrées between $15 - $20, mains between $30 and $35 and sides $6.50 per person but it’s certainly true that you get what you pay for.

I dined here for lunch on Friday with a large group of work colleagues, along with many other tables who appeared to be doing the same. The whole experience (food, service & atmosphere)had a "production line" feel to it. I would be interested to dine here in a smaller group and choose from the a la carte rather than set menu.
