our of us had dinner at the Red Herring last night and were all very impressed.
The seafood is absolutely first-class. We shared Oysters for entree, these were prepared 6 different ways including Kilpatrick, Tempura, Ginger and Miso, Avocado Salsa, Chinese Spoons and Bloody Mary. Mains were the Dhufish, BBQ tasting plate, Flounder and chilli Prawns. Every dish was absolutely fantastic and made the most of the beautiful fresh seafood.
Service was also excellent. We were never left waiting for anything and the waitress was particularly accommodating when trying to satisfy the pickier guest on our table. They were more than happy to invent an entrée of curry prawns and added some crème anglaise to one of the deserts when custard was requested instead of ice-cream.
The only complaint of the night was the acoustics – likened to that of a school canteen. It was quite difficult to hear one another due to the reverberation in the restaurant. However this definitely did not spoil an otherwise fantastic night out.

Your experience is totally different from ours. we went there about 8-9 weeks ago. we waited for the menus, we waited for our orders to be taken(nearly half an hour), we waited an inordinate amount of time between courses. attracting the attention of staff to get drinks was a task in itself. The food when it arrived was most ordinary - except for the oysters which were the worst my partner had ever had. | ||
