W hilst the Oyster Bar on the Beach is not a cheap night out, for us it was an excellent night out. We started with Oysters Natural and Kilpatrick ($12 a dozen if you go on Monday or Tuesday) and continued on to the Surf and Turf & the Trio of Seafood. As you would expect at this end of the market, the food was well presented and perfectly cooked. The service was pleasant and unobtrusive and well timed. No feeling of being either rushed or forgotten. After a pause we tried the Sticky Date Pudding and Rhubard Crumble, both served with icecream and both very well done. The tables are well spaced and seating is comfortable. Being midweek, it was quite and hence only a seven for atmosphere. I suspect this would be higher on a busy night. With a couple of glasses of wine, a soft drink and two coffees, the cost was $150 after the use of the Entertainment Card. As I said at the start, not a cheap night but excellent for a special occasion and in my view, worth every dollar.
