he Globe (under the Parmelia Hilton) has a reputation for its ‘long table’ dinners by Chef Cheong Liew. We decided that we should try it. From the moment we were seated it was obvious that the whole operation is very professional. I think that the target market is as much tourists as local diners.
I had Scallops wrapped in pancetta and vermicelli noodles with basil cream for entrée. They were so beautifully presented in their shells, and were absolutely a taste sensation. They were really crispy but still soft and juicy inside. My partner had yabbie ravioli with prawns in a seafood bisc which was also fantastic.
For main course I had chestnut buttered veal with broad beans, sugar snap peas and mussels. I can truly say that I have never had veal that was so tender this was melt in your mouth stuff and the broad beans were really creamy. My partner had the Harvey beef with semi sun dried tomatoes & roast veggies. It was good but not as good as everything else we had tasted, in comparison it was a bit plain.
Amazingly we made room for deserts, I had the Oriental Four Seasons which came with a banana ladies finger, coconut pudding, fruit salad and home made oriental ice cream I think my partner out ordered me this time with the Chocolate trio which had chocolate and cherry brule, bitter sweet chocolate tart (awesome) and white chocolate ice cream.
Definitely try the globe if you’re after a gourmet experience but make sure you have a fat back pocket because it is on the pricey side with average entrées $15 - $20, mains $30 + and desert $12. That said I think it was well worth it, it is an excellent restaurant.

I've been to the Cheong Liew's here in Perth and in KL. Both are exceptional and the taste experience is wonderful. In KL if you don't book on Friday and Saturday, you won't get a seat. They are so popular they don't even need to open on Sundays. | ||
