Perth Food Review

I 'd never tried the Blue Mussel before but always noticed it as I pass by the Subiaco train station. The restaurant is very modern with an open kitchen that always makes for interesting viewing.

I was very impressed with the quality of food. I had the mussels Thai style - one of several different styles you can order. They were fantastic, just the right amount of heat in a lovely coconut milk and Thai herb broth. I particularly loved the way that everything has been thought out; from how the mussels arrive at your table - covered in a stainless steel bowl which is then perched on the edge of the table in what initially appeared to be a wine holder to deposit shells in - as well as a bib for those who really like to get into their mussels. My partner ordered the salmon and after a mix up it arrived and was enjoyed equally as much.

The service was attentive and drinks arrived in record time although obviously there was a breakdown in communication somewhere along the lines when snapper arrived instead of salmon. Although I must say this was handled very well. The salmon arrived really swiftly as well as apologies from the manager and chef. The entire dish was also deducted from the bill which was a very generous gesture!

The desert we had was stunning, a mascarpone and mango tart. I think it really was obvious this desert was prepared fresh not just plucked from a cake fridge.

I would recommend the Blue Mussel, as well as a fantastic selection of fresh mussels there is plenty to choose from for Mussel Phobes' and there are plenty more dishes I want to try that will see me returning.
