W hile the other review by john is pretty harsh I tend to agree with some of his points raised.

The atmosphere is quite nice they have done well to make the large space feel comfortable. We ordered the Tasting Plate to share for entrée, I had the MSA Beef Fillet and my fiancé had the Prosciutto Rolled Lamb Shanks. I order a beer before the meal and we shared a bottle of wine with the food.

We were disappointed with the tasting plate which we expected to be a great chance for the chef to show us what he is capable of. It consisted of fried arancini balls, vegetarian Vietnamese spring rolls, marinated beef skewers and mini frittatas with olive tepanade and polish sausage. Everything was fairly bland; the highlight was probably the beef skewer.

My main course was fairly disappointing the cabbage and bacon accompaniment was tastier than the beef. It was a small piece of beef, probably about 180 grams and while it was cooked perfectly as I asked, medium rare, it was a little tough and needed something else on the plate to bring it to life. My fiancés Lamb was excellent, it was a shank taken of the bone rolled with prosciutto and stilton served with spinach and tomatoes. The only complaint I heard was that it was a bit too rich, which was in stark contrast to my dish that definitely lacked that richness.

Now, my biggest gripe with all the dishes was the temperature of the food! I guess they could be forgiven for not heating the tasting plate plate (does that make sense?). As there was a cold item on the plate, but the rest of the food on the plate needed to be a little warmer. We ordered mash with our mains because our one good waitress informed us that neither of our mains came with any carbs. This was just below Luke warm and we sent it back and asked them to heat it up. When it came back it was hot and quite good mash. Both the plates under our main courses were just below room temperature not heated at all; this meant the food which was once hot went cold fairly quickly. In the end a little bit of lamb went begging because the stilton had firmed up and turned a bit stodgy.

The service during the night was fairly patchy it seemed to depend on which waitress we got. Overall we were a little disappointed with the night, the food is not cheap with mains ranging from $29-$36. For this price you would expect far better food and service, which incidentally can be had elsewhere in Subiaco not far away.
