T o date, I have yet to receive feedback from a letter I sent to them dated 1 June 2004. This was my overall experience of this restaurant and I would never go there again.

I had occasion to celebrate my 35th Birthday and decided to spoil myself so a friend and I thought we would try this restaurant, as their reputation precedes them. Unfortunately I must complain about the service and the food we received on that day.

Firstly, the entrée – we ordered the mushrooms and some bruschetta; the bruschetta was very tasteful but the mushrooms were like stewed mushrooms with a tonne of stewed garlic added (which still didn’t add much to them) – these would have had to been the most uninspiring mushrooms I have ever tasted.

My friend and I were having a beer (Crown Lager and Corona) and the waitress, unsmilingly, asked us if we would like wine with our main meal; yes please, then the wine was put on the table straight away, whilst we still had almost full beers, and promptly sat there to get warm whilst we finished our entrées (and our beers).

No sooner had our entrée dishes been whisked away when our main meal was put in front of us (again, unsmilingly) – no time to digest entrée at all.

For the main, I ordered Creamy Garlic Prawns (main size) and my friend ordered a main size Chill Garlic Prawns (I think that’s what it was called). Although the creamy garlic sauce was nice, the prawns were shrimps and were definitely not to a standard I would expect from a seafood restaurant such as this.

We felt that all food had been pushed down our throats to get us out of this restaurant as fast as possible and we felt very rushed the whole time. The waitress barely smiled, in fact, everything was a chore. When we went to pay the bill, I wanted to use a WestClub Voucher but was told that as we hadn’t ordered a main, we could not use it (after the fact, I realised we had actually ordered mains).

Overall, it was not to the satisfaction that I would have expected from this restaurant and it was disappointing to spend so much money for my birthday and not have a beautiful, memorable lunch. I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant in future unless the standards of both food and service rose considerably.

Doesn't sound like the best restaurant and I probably wouldn't rush there but after reading your review I don't know that they really deserved such low scores in all three areas.
