have now had breakfast at the Raffles twice. Both times were absolutely appalling.
The first time a girlfriend and I went to The Raffles - around 9.30 on a Sunday morning. We were ignored for 15 minutes, then asked for coffees, and some water. We then waited a further 15 minutes, asked for water again, and finally were asked what we would like to eat. The food came out about 20 minutes later but we still had no coffee, and no water. We asked again for both, and were told the coffee machine was 'really busy'.
Finally our coffees arrived (about 15 minutes AFTER) our plates had been cleared from breakfast. No sugar was brought with the coffee - we had to go back and find another waitress to get some.
No water was brought to us the entire time we were there, despite asking for some 3 or 4 times.
Overall a terrible experience, however everyone can have a bad day and I don't like to write off a restaurant based on one experience.
Went back with a group of 15 or so girlfriends for a regular catch up this Sunday (again at 9.30).
Coffees took 45 minutes to arrive, again no sugar. Water took 30 minutes to arrive after asking for it 3 times again. Food was a long time coming and not great. The girls who had crepes were happy, but everyone elses eggs were overcooked, and the girl who ordered simple toast had to wait 15 minutes more than everyone else for her food.
All in all another terrible experience. It is a shame as I was keen to try the restaurant upstairs for dinner but can't bring myself to now, given that it would likely be very expensive, and based on my recent experience, could very well be terrible! I'm not willing to risk it!!

I strongly urge you to try the dinner experience. I have eaten there once for dinner and it was spectacular. I have also had reports from at least 3 other people that their nights were of equal standard. Amazingly one of the strong points of the dinner experience is the service, drinks arrived promptly and everyone waiting on us was very professional. The odd thing was that there were so many staff working when I was there, the restaurant was alive with them. And the restaurant was full so they were all fairly busy. It is expensive but for what you get and the way you get it, it is well worth it in my opinion. | ||
