R eading the first review on this restaurant it is clear that it was written by someone associated with the owners or someone who has no clue. Or both!
I had dinner there with three friends and found the food to be standard Indian fare, nothing spectacular, good Indian food well presented. The atmosphere was not to my taste however as being a Friday night the place was packed and we had to raise our voices to hear each other at the table! The flat ceiling needs softening to take the edge off the acoustics. The high tables are a nice idea and something different for those that wish to try them. The food and drinks are expensive, at the upper end of the spectrum. $7.50 fo a James Boag beer for example. Four people with entrees, four main dishes and no dessert, with four beers and two glasses of wine came to $210.
Summary: Competently presented Indian food in a loud atmosphere with high prices.

I totally agree with the last 2 reviews, Sunday was my Third time to nine Mary's, the first time was a large group booking, orders were stuffed up, service was shocking. the Second time was also a large group booking in which we pre-ordered our meals (to save time) I didn't receive mine for over and hour while the rest of the table were already eating, most had finished and i was still waiting.
Sunday was only a small group, I had heard that they could at least get small tables right. WRONG! there were 6 of us, we had to seat ourselves, we were not given menu's til I got up and asked for them, we were not given water on the table, or asked for drinks for at least 15 minutes. It took 30 mins to get our entree's and they were not cleared for another 30 mins after they were finished, mains took 45 minutes and one dish was not brought out. the wait staff were walking around whilst people were seated at the bar waiting for a table. there were 2 tables in front of us that took almost an hour to be cleared before being re-set. I don't know which experice was the worst, but I clearly will not be going again. 3rd time lucky was not the choice of phrase here. i advise people not to go here, the food is OK, but the service is a complete let down on the whole dining out experience. I have never been to Chutney mary's but i doubt now that I ever will.

yes our Bill came up to a huge $350 we only had a few drinks and a dish each plus entree's..well over priced for food that costs relatively little to make.
