ined at Must last night and surprisingly it was a bit hit and miss. My expectations were probably too high as I have heard only good things about this place. The atmosphere was a bit lively for my liking, am I getting old? I could imagine without too much effort you could transform the place into a fairly decent nightclub, there was even a bouncer on the door. I guess it is a winebar but you should still be able to enjoy a meal there at the price you are paying.
The entrees were brilliant, I had the Pan Fried Potato Gnocchi, w/ Braised Lamb Ragoût, Caramelised Onion, Sicilian Green Olive, Shaved Parmesan, it was simply brilliant great flavours and textures. I should have ordered it for main... My wife had the Grilled Fremantle Scallops w/ Pork Belly and Sweet Corn Puree; this was also a taste sensation.
Up to this point we were very happy with the food served and excited for the mains. For main I had the Pan Fried Gold Band Snapper w/ Saffron and Chorizo Risotto. This was in one word, horrible. In my opinion the dish was ill conceived and poorly executed. The saffron was overpowering, the chorizo chewy in a bad way and the fish bland and boring sitting on top, looking quite out of place. There was also some kind of salad involving greens and tomato sitting on top. My wife commented that it looked like something she would cook during the week. I agreed the visual aspect was similar but that’s where the similarities ended, her cooking being far superior to this. My wife was extremely happy with her Ten Hour Cooked Beef Cheeks w/ Paris Mash, Mushroom and Baby Carrots. I had a taste but thought it was a little on the bland side, definitely crying out for some seasoning, but overall pretty good. The waitress asked how our meals were and I had no choice but to tell her mine was horrible. Interesting enough she enquired what specifically was wrong as she would like to give feedback to the chef, so I obliged with the same comments I have made here.
We didn’t feel like desert at this point so promptly asked for the bill and skedaddled.
Very disappointing.
