his would be my third visit to Mela in about six months. The restaturant is run by the people who started Maya Masala which was then sold. The food is consistently good but the service is consistently indifferent!
My dinner guest ordered a Masala Dosa and I ordered a Non Veg Thali and a plain Naan bread. We ordered beers which arrived within about five minutes. I should mention that this was on a busy Friday night but there did seem to be plenty of floor staff available.
At the time of ordering the table next to us was empty. About twenty five minutes after ordering, during which time the adjacent table became occupied, their table was served a Masal Dosa and plain Naan Bread. The lady at the table even made the comment " Gosh that was quick we have only just ordered." I noticed the guy nibbling at the Naan bread. After another five minutes the waitress walked over and looked at our table, looked at theirs and then asked the man what he had ordered, she then discovered that he had not ordered the Naan bread and so removed the remaining uneaten half. About five more minutes later our meals arrived.
The food is well prseented and cooked and consistent, there is a good range on the menu and also lots of Indian Sweets available. Prices are reasonable and drink prices are okay, BYO wine is permitted at $1.50 per head corkage.
With a little more attention to training staff I think the service deficiencies can be overcome and this would certainly lift the overall dining experience.
