I
live in Mount Lawley and have been progressively trying all the restaurants and cafes in, and surrounding, the area.
Tonight I tried Mekong Vietnamese Restaurant. (Corner Beaufort and Seventh)
This is a taste and service disaster !!
I am a huge fan of food originating from the Asiatic region and realise that in most cases the chefs alter the original flavour for the western taste, but this is just shocking.
My partner and I ordered the taste plate of entrée plus a serve of Wontons – I have never seen less filling in a bit of fried pastry in all my life (Wonton) and the taste plate had something seriously wrong – the meat was grey and foul.
We then ordered three mains – two arrived and the last came as we were paying the bill.
I did not attempt dessert.
I have a couple of pet hates with restaurants –
One: service that is just bad and makes you feel as if you are a hindrance to an otherwise nice evening for the waitress.
Second: dishes that arrive with large amounts of time between; the two entrées were 10 mins apart and the mains (rice, dish one and dish two) were and average of 10 mins apart – in fact the first dish was cold as the last arrived. This makes a shared meal difficult for all.
My advice – don’t bother – this was a $60 dollar mistake.
