Perth Food Review

M y husband and I visited Lamonts for the first time for our anniversary in February. My email reservation the morning of our anniversary was promptly responded to which was a great start. Upon our arrival at Lamonts we were seated over looking the river and served water. Our waitress from then on was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was quiet as the restaurant was not full but the music was kept to a minimal and this made the mood very romantic and serene. I ordered the Wagyu beef Carpaccio with toasted hazelnuts, cucumber salad and cauliflower cream and my husband the Fruits de mare: garlic prawns, crumbed mussels, oyster and seared scallops for entree. Our entrees could not be faulted and served in time. For mains I ordered the Butter poached marron with grilled tails, sauce vierge and petit gnocchi, which was delightful. The marron had been cooked I think on the grill and had a smokey flavour. The gnocchi went very well with the marron to my surprise. My husband had the Black Angus sirloin with fennel and horseradish, potato rosti. The sirloin was medium rare however brought no complaints from my husband. Overall, Lamonts is well worth the effort and little extra in money due to the service, atmosphere and food.
