Perth Food Review

A group of us planned our annual end of year get together with much anticipation. We had heard good reveiws about La Cascade so thought we would give it ago.

We arrived just on 7:30pm and the waitstaff avoided eye contact with us and wouldn't acknowledge our presence. So while we waited for attendance, we took in the rather drab, old, dreary decor which looked like it had been there since the 60's. We were eventually directed to our table, however took over one hour to obtain a menu. While the menu was appertising and cost ok, the waitstaff continued to be elusive and uncommunicative. They were clumsy, dropping things, bumping into each other, looked ungroomed and flustered. The food took forever to arrive (mains turned up after 10:30) and the staff proceeded to give our food to another table. The other patrons ended up passing the food over to us, while waitress continued to keep mixing up tables. Food turned up over the course of 20 minutes, so some of us were eating and some were not! The minute we ate our mains, the table was swept clean even though some of us were still eating. Given the overall frustrations we were not enthused and the mood of the night dampened. Upon debating the cost of the final bill, the Chefs wife said we paid for the atmosphere and that most customers want to spend all night here. We said that we just wanted our food so we could leave before midnight. As we were leaving, the chef locked the door on us and proceeded to swear at us in very colourful language. In all my years of going to restaurants, I have never expereinced such poor service and lack of respect for clientele. Avoid this place like the plague.

Oh and by the way, the Atmosphere was like sitting in a teachers staffroom at night with dim lighting !
