T he service at Kailis Bros was so good I feel compelled to write this review. Friendly, unobtrusive yet our every need was anticipated. I was particularly impressed that a passing waitress noticed my frozen daiquiri had made a small puddle on the table which she promptly mopped. Our 3 year old was made to feel welcome with crayons and pictures provided and we were asked before she was offered a complimentary treat of rocky road. This was very thoughtful as often the last thing you want is your child to be given a sweet treat close to bedtime.

And the food? Just sensational. We shared a mezze plate of Al Greco octopus, whitebait, Morrocan cuttlefish and calamari with a sweet chilli dipping sauce ($33 ish). The octopus and calamari were the standouts and very reminiscent of Greek island village cooking. The sweet chilli sauce was a good choice with the cuttlefish but I felt wasn't subtle enough for the flavours of the other dishes. Perhaps a lemon aioli or simply extra lemon wedges would have been a more sympathetic accompaniment.

The Blue swimmer crab linguine ($20.50 entree)was a delight. Loaded with crabmeat and scented with garlic, evoo and just the right amount of chilli.

Singapore chilli crabs demanded considerable attention but the exquisite meat was worth the effort. The sauce was just spicy enough to satisfy a confirmed chilli-head.

Being a Saturday there was an upbeat buzz with several birthday groups. Pleasantly relaxed but with top-notch food. Recommended!

Sunday lunch: Great menu choices, really good food. Atmosphere unique. Service was really not up to scratch. Asked by 2 waitpersons if we wanted water to which we said yes, then had to ask again until finally had to get up from the table and remind the waitperson we were still waiting! Glass refills instead of carafes for the table, are not a good idea in a busy place that serves sometinmes salty or spicy food. Our empty plates were not removed for a good 30 mins. Just as well we were enjoying our company. Still, I'd go back because the food is so good.

I didn't like the place at all.
I had checked out the website and saw photos of tableclothed tables with flowers on them so was really looking forward to a romantic meal with my man. Instead when we got there it was one long line of padded seats at the side of the wall. There were other tables of course. We were seated about a foot away from a table of 6 women and i honestly felt like i was in a food hall with harsh lighting and not a tablecloth in sight.
It took 15 mins to order a much needed glass of wine and at 50 dollars i thought the grilled seafood platter was so so with the snapper not being particularily moist.
There's just no atmosphere at all. If you want to feel like you are in a food hall this is the place for you, but at reasonably high prices you could do better elsewhere.
