T his review only relates to customer service at Jessica's. I have not eaten there and do not doubt that the food is very good. In fairness I have given these a moderately high score.

My experience at Jessicas occured after an evening meal in the Hyatt Centre on the way down to the car park. My three year old daughter needed the toilet so my pregant wife popped into Jessica's to ask if she could use theirs. She was quite blunty told no and quickly ushered out whereupon my daughter wet herself on the pavement outside the restaurant door. There was no offer of any assistance from the staff.

After we had cleaned her up we went back in to complain. We were repeatedly told that Jessica's "has nothing to do with the Hyatt" and that "if we let you in we'd have to let eveyone in". We were then told to leave.

I have to agree with Jessica's on this one. Perhaps they could have treated you a bit better, and maybe explained themselves, but I have to agree with the principle. Don't get me wrong I feel sympathy for your situation, but I don’t think Jessica's are at all to blame. I would never venture into a cafe or restaurant that I was not a paying customer of and ask to use the toilet. Even if it was an emergency, like in your situation I would probably expect to be turned away.

I have two questions for you.

1 - Why didn't you ask your daughter if she wanted to go to the toilet when you were at the location where you had your meal? I assume they had toilet facilities there.

2 - If your daughter perhaps doesn't speak up about when she needs to go to the toilet before it becomes urgent, why was she not wearing a diaper?

Thanks for the comments Tony. I will try and answer your queries:

1. We did and yes, they did have toilets there. 10 minutes after leaving she said she wanted to go. It may be fickle but probably not unreasonable for a three year old.

2. She will speak up absolutely, and is not in the habit of wetting herself, hence no diaper. It was as a suprise to us too. I suspect the event may have been more symtomatic of being told 'no' in a rather brisk manner having first politely asked to go.

We have very occasionally asked to use restuarent facilites like this, maybe 4 or 5 times but we had never been told no before. In fact we have found people in Perth to very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant's decor was a little 80s. However, I was not disappointed by the service or food. Very attentive waitresses and friendly service. The food was excellent. I ordered a...[more]
