irst of all this review is a few months old and I apologize for that.. It just struck me that I had not written one.. Despite it I can still confidently vouch for this place..
Anyway it was a friends birthday and we had already been looking forward to dinner at Jacksons..
We arrived and started the night off with a bottle of rose.. After mulling over the starters we went with the kingfish carpaccio that was served with a pineapple salad and lime dressing, oysters with chilli and lime sorbet, and the crab.. I was quite happy with my carpaccio, but as soon as I tasted the oysters I knew I was out-ordered.. The dressing was amazing, the two tastes working together to give the taste buds an impressive sensation..
While waiting for our mains we were tempted into the idea of trying the mulled wine sorbet, which was simply topnotch..
For the main, I ordered the chestnut stuffed rabbit baked in prosciutto, beetroot risotto & horseradish..
The others ordered the angus beef steak served with celeriac mash,
lemon and garlic roasted lambserved with chick peas and walnut skordalia,
steamed manjimup marron, served with bearnaise sauce, asparagus, truffle and parsley,
and the tea smoked chicken with king prawns, shitake mushrooms and miso braise..
I have to say the rabbit was the best dish on the table, the beetroot risotto was a flawless complement to the tender meat infused with flavours..
The steak was average as it was well done, not to my liking, but very much it seems to one of our mates..
The lamb was another standout, the meat was cooked to perfection..
Both the marron and chicken was also well done, there was absolutely nothing to complain about the food there..
If I could only say one thing it would be the place itself.. I found it to be a little small, although it wasn't a real bother.. I think they did well with the space given, with the concept of three different dining levels.. Our service was great, no glasses were left empty for long, and all our needs were attended to without delay..
Jacksons was truly a great dining experience, and it definitely climbed the charts in my books.. Already looking forward to the next visit.. Top marks..!

I recently dined at Jackson's with a large group. It was my first, and will be my last experiance there. The staff made every effort to ensure that we knew we were bloody lucky to be eating there. Requests for particular wines were dismissed as being unsuitable to acompany certain dishes (excuse me, who is the customer?). Dishes were served with no explanation of the kooky ingredients. Service, if it can be called that, was sanctimonious and snotty. And by the way, the only thing worse than a waiter with dirty hands is one with grotty gloves. The food was average. | ||
