Perth Food Review

I t was absolutely appalling.

Upon arriving, I was pleased with the location with a lovely view of the river and open view through the glass windows surrounding the restaurant.

As I walked in the door, I was seen but not greeted by the lady manager who just looked up and continued keying orders into the electronic system while I waited. Without a smile she approached and asked how she could help before she led me to a table with brown food stains on the side of the tablecloth.

My friends were running late and I was left seated alone at my table without any offers of a drink or any attention from the waitstaff whatsoever - 15 minutes before my friends arrived. Might I add that I did not arrive until 1.30 - the restaurant was not even close to full and many customers were already halfway through their meals when I arrived - definately no excuse for the lack of service.

10 minutes after my friends arrived and we all looked through the menus, we were finally asked what we drinks would like. One friend and myself liked the entree dishes and asked if we could have main-sized dishes - no, they don't have entree sized dishes but they can double up the entrees for us. I asked for a mains-sized crumbed prawns and my friend a mains-sized cuttlefish. When the dishes came out, the cuttlefish was small but sufficient for my friend, a small eater. My crumbed prawns consisted of FOUR prawns. A light sprinkle of crumbs on top, with a few flakes of parsley and a slice of lemon. For my main. A kitten would not be satisfied with that. Not once had the waitress comented that it might not be enough for one to eat. After we finished our dishes we sat again, no attention and no offers of dessert.

Dissatisfied with the utter lack of service, we decided to leave and proceeded to the counter to pay. Presenting our Entertainment cards, the waitress took off two meals from our bill - an entree of moussaka(which I had to add because I was still starving) and the cuttlefish. When questioning this, we were told that I had eaten the moussaka with our main courses, so it was counted as a main course dish - the cheapest main dish. When questioning the lack of service, why no one would bring to my attention that the prawn dish would only have FOUR prawns, I was told 'well, it was your choice', and that the entree dishes are all tapas - not stated on the menu or ever mentioned by the waitstaff. On questioning the lack of drinks service - the lady manager replied - 'im not understanding what you're getting at' and argued that her staff did approach us about drinks - AFTER I had already waited alone. She proceeded to frustratedly pull $12 from the register and place it on the counter - 'well there's the money back (for the moussaka)' and dismiss us from the premises.

Needless to say, I was appalled and disgusted with the lack of service and their arguing with our complaints instead of listening to what we had to say.

Make a visit to In Contro if you want to pay good money for terrible service, rude rebuttal and food that was not bad but definately not worth the frustrations.
