M y partner and I visited (unannounced) Hanami for a TAT post movie meal and were happy that they could accommodate us as the restaurant was almost full. The food quality, service and atmosphere were good; however, the outstanding feature was the value for money. Perhaps it was the popcorn I had enjoyed earlier but I struggled to finish my meal of Teppan Yaki prawns (TWELVE of them) as did my partner who ordered the Assorted Tempura (4 prawns, 2 fish, 1 squid & 4 vegetables) served with a large bowl of Udon noodle soup. Both mains were just under $20 each and there was little need to add any side dishes – although we did squeeze in a miso soup and Japanese pickles (incidentally a huge mound of for $3.50, in complete contrast to the small serves usually received at similar venues). Beer Boy was happy to see Asahi and Sapporo offered, both of which complement much of this cuisine. All of the usual suspects feature on the menu and we saw many a Gyoza, Agedashi Tofu & Sashimi delivered to the surrounding tables. We left very happy, and very full!
