took the family to the Grand Palace last night after reading two excellent reviews about it (one on this website and the other on the Entertainment Book website).
It was an absolute delight. The service was a standout (granted it was a Wednesday night and not full, but there was still a reasonable clientele - I dare say because of its reputation), and the atmosphere was just great. The food was good - a little sweet for my taste (perhaps that is the Cantonese cooking style - I'm not sure) but certainly we had no complaints with it.
A little expensive but definitely worth it - especially with the very generous discount that the restauarnt offers under the Entertainment Book program.
Interestingly, I was a bit of a Balthazar fan (it is directly opposite the Grand Palace on the Esplanade) having dined there twice a couple of years ago, but some of the recent reviews that I have seen about Balthazar firmed my decision to try the Grand palace this time - I'm glad we did.
