T errible service, half of the food ordered didn't come out onto the table. Not enough wait staff and the few wait staff there were very rude.

I don’t think the Good Fortune Chinese Restaurant is anywhere near as bad as the review above suggests. We went there on Sunday night. It was reasonably quiet with only about 6 tables full and a steady stream of take away orders.

We had the Salt and Chilli Quail for entree ($10.50) which was very tasty although a little greasy and Roast Duck with Minced prawn ($25) and Beef with Ginger and Shallots ($16.50) for main course to share with steamed rice. The Beef was fantastic! The Duck dish whilst really yummy was a bit of a surprise as it wasn’t exactly what we were expecting – a deep fried minced prawn ball with a slither of roast duck. Still it was interesting and we wouldn’t have ordered it otherwise. The service was very friendly and we will definitely go back next time we need a fix of Chinese food.

Our regular haunt for Yum Cha - prefer it to any currently operating in northbridge. Not so good if you are into the "trolley" experience as you order from a menu. Northbridge Chinese on Roe street is good if you like the more traditional setting.

Good Fortune has the best Roast Duck! and if you find getting the meat off the bones they have a boneless duck.. Service has always been good and the food top notch...

p/s: wopfre, have you tried Golden Century on James st or Joy Garden on Fitzgerald ? they're two of my favourite yum cha spots..

I have tried both those places Chimera and I agree that they are good. We recently a new dish at Good Fortune - prawn fritters coated in slivered almonds - which tasted better than it sounds :) I will try the roast duck next time on your recommendation and apparently the deep fried oysters (not from the yum cha menu) are popular with regulars.

Prawn fritters with silvered almonds... Interesting..

I have never actually been to one of the Good Fortune yum cha sessions, but it's where I'm headed the next time I go for yum cha..! =)
