his was the first time I had been to Fraser’s and I think the first impression will last. We hoped to eat at about 7:30, but we were informed that on weekends they do two sittings for dinner, 6:30 & 8:30… So 8:30 it was.
After some serious deliberation, we managed to choose an entrée to share and a main course each. The choice is great, out of about 15 dishes, most coming in entrée & main sizes; there was 1, which I would not consider, lambs brains (acquired taste).
For entrée we shared the scallops, which were accompanied by a Japanese Coleslaw. These were some of the best scallops I have ever eaten. As you can see from the pictures, the presentation was also superb.
For main course I had the grilled scotch fillet (350g), with potato and bacon pie and a red wine jus. The beef was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and extremely tender. However, the star of this plate was the potato and bacon pie. Absolutely amazing flavours and texture, paired with the beef, a very complementary dish.
My partner had the spiced beef with cucumber raita, tomato relish, spinach and paneer, dahl and poppadoms. I tasted a portion of this and the flavours were great, they really came together well in your mouth. It was a very generous portion as well.
Unfortunately we didn’t leave room for desert, as we were absolutely stuffed, but still it was a great meal.
I would just like to mention that the service was second to none, we were never waiting for a drink, and our meals arrived promptly. Our waiter who seated us, and then served us throughout the night was outstanding. His knowledge of the menu, beer, and wine was fantastic. It showed that he quite liked his job, and that made a difference.

You are correct about the tablecloths, but what about the food, service & the view? Are they not worth a mention?

No tablecloths is the most bizarre feedback!! If you're too pretentious to eat somewhere only with tablecloths then the world will just pass you by and you will miss out.
