I
was excited to go here. I booked a table for 8 people and the staff sounded lovely over the phone. I was a bit worried when they asked if we were going to be using an entertainment card (we were) and wondered if this would alter the service we received.
It was a really hot day, over 38 degrees, and the restaurant was un-airconditioned. There were fans, but they made little difference.
We were seated at a table that looked a little shabbier than other tables. It had crappy water glasses (compared to the other tables)and a torn table cloth. I wondered if this was because I had told them about the Entertainment card we planned to use.
We looked at the menus for ages, one of my guests had no menu in her sleeve, which was a pain. The restaurant was not yet busy at this stage, but it took ages to get our order taken. The prices are very steep considering what you get. There is also a very limited selection.
I ordered a tapas plate and received (after a long wait) four tiny bowls on a plate. One with anchovies, one with feta, one of olives and one with 4 tiny pieces of cremated dried out chorizo and diced tomato. That's all. No bread or anything. For this they were charging $28. I complained and asked how I was supposed to eat a bowl of anchovies. The waitress brought out a plate of breads (which were nice) and some dip. This is around 20 mins after I received the pitiful Tapas plate. I was fuming. I was then charged $15.50 for the bread. that meant my lunch cost me $43.50.
My companions seemed to enjoy their lunch, although the salads looked pitiful for the price. very small with hardly any bits in them.
Although I was ready to walk out, when we got the bill there was a very pleasant surprise... they had stuffed up! For 6 mains, 2 salads, my tapas and bread and san pelligrino water, it cost $162.50! We ended up paying less than half of the expected price. This discount is due in part to our entertainment cards, but mainly due to the incompetence of the waitress running up the bill. I say that's karma for trying to rip people off!
Will not be going back and will be telling everyone I know how unimpressed I am. I am a chef and I do have high expectations, but I eat out a lot and certainly expect better.

Jo - while I understand your point and am sympathetic I question the morality of taking advantage of a billing error in your favour and chalking it up to karma. In my book it is little different to theft. | ||
