e were wondering what to get our friends for a wedding present, so after a lot of thought we decided why not dinner and champagne at Cream restaurant.. As many other reviews might have mentioned, Cream is a beautiful restaurant in East Perth, with jazzy lounge type decor.. It is definitely one of my favourite places to dine at..
(BTW, I took a picture of the menus so I could remember the full names of the dishes.. =) )
We started off with a bottle of the Veuve Clicquot, what a beautiful champagne and not too expensive as well.. For entrees I ordered a Crispy Squid and citrus aioli served with shaved fennel and orange salad, the fresh orangy flavours complemented the squid really well and the citrus aioli was simply amazing.. My friend had the Japanese miso soup which was out of the ordinary, not the simple bland miso soup you get at Japanese restaurants.. The newlyweds shared a blue manna crab and king prawn ravioli in lime and lemongrass thai broth, which I thought was the best dish on the table.. It was really fresh and was italian and thai perfectly fused together, exploding with flavour and aroma..
Already running low on alcohol, we decided to go for a Cab Sauv, the 2003 Suckfizzle, a very gutsy red.. By the way, the service was topnotch in my opinion, our drinks were refilled very quickly and our needs quickly attended to..
For the mains I had the baby Spatchcock, boneless and served on a truffle scented white bean mash and garlic jus.. I thought I outdid everyone this time as I really enjoyed my main.. It wasn't really boneless, but there was barely one or two bones in there, so it was good..
Another friend had a slow braised veal shank served with mash and tomato and basil sauce.. It was definitely a good meal, had very specific flavours and the meat was cooked just right.. The taste was really close to the lamb pasta I had the last time I was here, that was really good.. :)
The newlyweds had the grilled arabic spiced lamb, served on yoghurt bread, eggplant salad, goat fetta and fresh herbs & the gnochhi.. My brother decided to order the lamb as well and it was a good decision.. The spices used were rare as I've never tasted them before and it went well with the eggplant salad and yoghurt bread.. The handmade gnocchi was simply amazing, soft, fluffy and god forbid such tenderness..!
For desert we had the ice-creams, homemade sorbets, pear puff tarts served with ginger icecream, baked orange and almond pie, which were all presented most spectacularly and in generous proportions..
I can hardly wait to come back in a few more months when the menu changes.. I highly recommend Cream restaurant to anyone, especially for a nice dinner for two...
