I thought taking my husband to one of the most famous restaurants in Perth would be a nice idea. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was awful! Firstly the view is what makes this place famous so you don't expect the windows to be covered in a greasy film that you can't see out of. What are they thinking? It was so obvious that someone had attempted to clean the windows obviously using a dirty tea towel fromt he inside and had left a grease smear on every window and of course all at head height. We sat down and began to order a nice bottle of white, we ordered the Amberley Estate SSB - you would think that would be an easy task, oh no. Three attempts, numerous eye rolling from the "French" speaking waitress (mind you the entire staff spoke broken English, since when has C Restaurant been a french cuisine) anyway back to ordering the wine. Finally after asking for the menu to point out the line item of wine we had ordered we finally got our bottle much to the waitresses disguist, how dare we waste her time! Great start. The menu now is a set price which was a bit of a shock, $88 per person - this included either an entree and main or main and dessert - personally we thought not good value. So we ordered the fresh oysters. The oysters appeared accompanied by a Vodka sauce - I proceeded to place a little of the sauce onto an oyster -hmm tasted a bit strange but put it down to the vodka. The second oyster, I should have known when it came out of the shell slimmy and dull looking - oh yes as soon as it hit my mouth I nearly wretched. The oysters were off! They stunk and tasted rotten. Both my husband and I were horrified to say the least. Our plates were taken back to the kitchen to which we witnessed the entire kitchen staff sniffing the oysters and screwing their faces up with dismay at the smell. At this point we expected someone from the kitchen to come and apologise - no! Nothing, the waitress appeared again with the menu and promptly shoved it in our noses and said choose another entree. I declined but my husband thought he'd try another dish. This too was substanded. Our enthusiasm at this point had now gone down hill. The mains came, I had the duck my husband had the kangaroo both meals were quite nice, nothing special and if we hadn't have ordered the extra plate of vegies we would have starved with the portions. During the whole night our wine glasses were left empty for prolonged periods to which my husband self served us because there was no sign of a waitress anywhere. Then came dessert, the peach melba well that was even more disappointing. We received a scoop of rock hard ice-cream approximately 1 ince in diameter with one half of a canned peach on top - all presented on a plate 12 inches in diameter! This at a cost of $15 a plate! To add insult to the night a waitress behind us collected plates and dropped two bowls of sauce on the floor right at my feet splashing sauce onto my ankle and clothing. We had had enough, paid the bill - no apology still for the rotten oysters - no compensation, you would have thought a complimentary wine or glass of port or brandy to thank us for even staying for the rest of our meal - but nothing. So after paying the $263.00 bill we left never to return again!
