S aturday 12th November was our 1st wedding anniversary. We had organised a babysitter for our 9 week old, our first evening away from him, thus really looking forward to it. Having previously experienced a lovely evening (midweek) at C Restaurant some six months ago we thought we would return. After parking the car in the tight, dirty carpark downstairs we arrived for our 8pm booking, upon stepping out of the lift we stood in front of the two hostesses for 3 - 4 minutes before they even acknowledged we were there. Our table was not ready and we were taken to the bar area after being given a card with a number written on it and left to sit in a pokey little area with 3 other couples. A drinks waiter come over to take our order but we were being "entertained" by a musician doing card tricks, not the kind of entertainment I would expect from this type of restaurant. My husband ordered a riesling which the waiter needed us to point to on the menu, I the C mocktail. The riesling arrived some 10 minutes later and my drink we are still waiting for. At 8.30pm we decided enough was enough and got up to leave, just in time a waitress came over to take us to our table, well she came looking for number 205 - no, 206 - no, 207 - bingo that's us!. We asked again where my drink was and she was going to "chase it up". Upon being seated in a nice window booth we were given the menus. Opening the menu I was greeted with the dessert menu, whilst perusing it the drinks waiter came over again asking what we ordered, explaining again I wanted a C mocktail he left. At that point it was about 8.45pm, enough was enough, the mood of the evening was ruined. So we stood up and walked to the lifts. We were chased by the waitress who apologised and asked us what she could do to help. She spoke to the manager Reuben who came over to us after standing there for another 5 minutes, waiting waiting. We told him our story and he, wait for it........apologised and offered us a free glass of wine or dessert, what an insult - we left vowing never to return.

Sounds quite bad, there have been a lot of negative reviews of C over the years. I wonder if they are going to change their ways and become consistiently good. | ||

I've also heard a lot of mixed reviews about C, which is a real pity, because it does look like a lovely place. Might pop in one night for a cocktail or something, experience the vibe and the view without spending the big bucks. | ||
