T
he new Broken Hill Hotel in Victoria Park is an eye opener. A total makeover sees a clean and fresh location at the bottom of the Albany Highway. The bar, dining area and beer garden are all light, clean and fresh.
The food was a very plesant suprise, the Chef's plate was large enough for two and contained a beautiful mix of proscuito wrapped asparagus, olives and fetta, chorizo sausage, tempura oysters, arancini, warm turkish bread, beetroot dip and smoked salmon rosettes with capers. All fresh and beautifuly prepared. For mains a serve of dusted calamari rings proved to be some of the tenderest calamari I have ever tasted, virtually melting in your mouth. The ceaser salad was tasty with fresh ingredients, though a little lacking in the generosity of the dressing, still far better than I have had in some other places. All this was washed down with a very nice bottle of Suckfizzle sav blanc at about bottleshop prices.
I will certainly go back and would recommend this location for business or social diners out for an informal quality meal in a nice relaxed setting.
