T
his German restaurant that is tucked away in Applecross just off Canning Hwy is a little jem! We were told that it is usually very busy on a week night so we decided to go on a Sunday. Luckily for us there were only a couple of other diners in the restaurant so we were given above average service. The atmosphere is very warm with the lighting i found to be perfect.
The menue ranges from German European cuisine to your standard affair. Entrees has a platter with various gourmet smallgoods to offer which sounded very tempting, For mains my partner chose the pan fried chicken breast in Black Forrest ham stuffed with camembert on a spinach and sundried tomato risotto finished with a garlic cream sauce. This meal must of been nice because by the time I got around to ask her for a taste there was nothing left, maybe next time. I decided to go for the Rack of Lamb served on creamy basil mash, braised red cabbage, oven dried vine tomatoes accompanied by a Shiraz jus. The Lamb Rack was two decent sized racks cooked beautifully and presented nicely, the red cabbage gave the lamb the right touch not to mention the juicy vine tomatoes and jus. For desert we shared a Creme Brulee with a Berry Shot, definately not the high light of the night. The Creme Brulee was a little runny and the Berry Shot was served with frozen berries in a sauce that not even a sweet tooth would like, also with no alcohol in it. but apart from that I was really impressed with the food and service, in fact so much that I am cosidering having my wedding reception here.
