e decided to go out for a meal before having a drink at the pub. Barista was quite full and we had to sit down the back near the door to the toilets, and the kitchen. It wouldn't have been so bad if the spotlight that was shining in my face was tilted up slightly to shine at the roof. There were only two girls out the front, and the restaurant was pretty much full. The lack of service was evident throughout the whole night.
We waited for about 10 minutes before they realised that we didn't have any menus. When the water was placed on our table, the waitress informed us that she will get us two glasses. This obviously slipped her mind as they never arrived. When I ordered a beer my partner used the glass that came with that. About an hour passed from the time we ordered our food until it arrived. After I finished my first beer, it was quite difficult to get the waitress’s attention to order another one.
When the food did arrive we were fairly disappointed. My partner had the fish of the day, which was a salt water barramundi. While the fish was cooked well, and was pleasant to taste, the other ingredients did not suit the dish. There was a roast capsicum mayonnaise smeared on top, and a large amount of mushrooms throughout.
My dish was the pork chop with sprouts and bacon. The dish was really tasty, and unlike my partners all the ingredients combined well. The only bad thing was the size of the dish, as I was very hungry by the time it came. I didn’t get to enjoy the taste, as I was trying to get every little morsel of meat from the bone.
Overall we were pretty disappointed with Barista; at least the entertainment card reduced the sting a little.
