I
t was my birthday recently and as a small treat to myself, I took the family along for a spot of Mexican at Acapulco Annie's.
The quality of the ingredients was good. The food was well prepared and well presented, but.... and I'm afraid this was the kicker for me - the food is bland and uninspired. It was not at all spicy and frankly bore no resemblance to anything like Mexican cuisine.
Apparently I have been told since, if you want the "authentic" spices, you have to specifically request it. If true, this is not made clear by staff or on the menu and is quite frankly bewildering as to the logic behind it - I mean why bother?
In addition, the Margarita's tasted like washing up liquid and the Sangria's primary spirit was not, as is traditional – rum or brandy but tequila, or possibly actual washing up liquid
The staff were friendly & attentive, almost too attentive – we felt hurried and harassed. Hardly conducive to a fine dining experience, we were in and out of there in under an hour.
Having said that, the food is fast, and as I said was well prepared and used quality ingredients. Just don't go expecting a Latin American experience. Sadly, I don’t think I will be visiting again.

^Haha, whatever. Do you own Tombstone? Tombstone has a reputation for being crap awful with gross expensive food. Seriously, stick with Acapulco Annie's. | ||
