e first went to this restaurant in December 07 - the food was marvellous - generous serves, lovely flavours and fantastic service. For my partner's birthday, we decided to re-live the experience.
BAD idea!
They have since changed the menu and must have a new chef. The food and service have gone downhill. This gold-plate award winning restaurant will not be receiving any more accolades.
The cocktails were hideously over-priced at $18.50 for a long island iced tea. Unfortunately, this was the 'best value for money' component of our meals.
The peking duck salad ($18) not up to standard - the duck was dry and tasteless and the salad came with no dressing. After waiting more than ten minutes for table service, me being unable to get any attention from the staff, I had to get up, approach a staff memeber, and ask for dressing from the kitchen. I was given about a teaspoon of dressing - not enough! My partner's entree was equally uninspiring - the quail ($20) was over cooked and the accompanying paw paw salad was bland. He felt quite unwell after finishing the dish.
The mains were equally dissappointing - the duck curry ($28) was served luke warm and was not spicy or fragrant - served in a bland pale green watery coconut sauce. The pumpkin gnocci ($27) was a yet another dissappointment. The baked semoline gnocci on the old menu was fabulous - the pumpkin gnocci was heavy and once again, BLAND.
For $135 for two people, we were very unimpressed. Bad service and worse food - we will be making sure none of our friends or acquaintances visit this establishment again.

We went on a Friday night (April 5th 2008) - I do not think that the head chef would be having Friday night off! | ||
