I
was at the 1841 Bar & Kitchen during the 2006 Spring in the Valley weekend. The setting inside is traditional and quite quaint, and I would recommend sitting in the lovely gardens outside. The food ordered included a Thai pumpkin soup, the 1841 plate and a side of chips. I felt let down by the quality of the food since it seems like the food prepared was being adventurous for its own sake, without much though given to whether it would a pleasure to eat. The 1841 plate should also be avoided since it contained a mixture of foods which doesn't justify its price at all. The service was adequate, although it might be better during a less busy period.
Overall, I will probably not be recommending this restaurant, since there are other restaurants in the Swan Valley with great ambience, good service and even better food.
