14-05-2008 : perthfood : Whilst the service and atmosphere at Wagamama are fine the food is not. I had been recommended against going by three different people and thought I had to give it a try for myself as generally it rev...[more]
27-08-2007 : ailemrac : I would just like to say I used to work in Wagamama and the reason the food quality is not so hot is due to the way the kitchen staff is treated. Management pays us about 8 dollars after tax for an ho...[more]
23-02-2007 : Fazz : We went here for a quick meal early on Friday night. We have been here before in the past and have found the service can vary a little, although the food is tremendous. I had the Teriyaki Chickinr...[more]
16-10-2006 : willcanreid : Very trendy looking inside and out, located right at the Subiaco train station. Wagamama's was in my opinion a little over rated. Food - We thought we would try the bench mark Japanese food test in...[more]

22-05-2008 : Tony : We tried Wagamama several times, we thought we would give it a chance as it seems to always be busy. But it always failed us in some way. :: [original context]
18-02-2008 : fishdance : I have been here three times, and I always expect it to be better than it is. The food is the problem for me. The lack of vegetables really disappoints. I like the ambience and the service. The location for me is great. I am going to give it one lucky last try. :: [original context]
06-09-2007 : Libby : I want to love Wagamama, the fit out is awesome and the concept is fantastic and fresh. However, there are just so many better tasting and better value options out there for Asian food (many of them within walking distance!) I have been to Wagamama three time in the past two months and the food is not consistently good while the service is consistently very average. After our last dining experience we decided to give up on Wagamama and rekindle our love of other local Asian restaurants. :: [original context]
21-08-2007 : wopfr3 : Can also recommend the Teriyaki Beef Steak Soba and the Beef Salad - tried both on the weekend and enjoyed them. The addition of an entertainment book voucher made it a more pleasant experience financially, however, we only would consider this place for a quick meal. :: [original context]
16-04-2007 : Phase 2 : If you are used to the Japanese delicacy, presentation and care in food - don't go here. Rough and ready, coarse food. Weird service. I didn't like the way food comes out at different times. The curry sauce on my meal tasted like the stuff you put on hot chips. Funky atmosphere and average food, but I won't be going back. Come on guys you can do better. :: [original context]
05-03-2007 : wopfr3 : My partner and I dined here early on Sunday evening and orded a number of side dishes - fried squid, duck gyoza, vegetable gyoza wok greens & raw salad (washed down with a couple of Asahi beers) and were happy with the whole experience. Perhaps being early and ordering yum cha style is preferable. :: [original context]
11-12-2006 : skycruiser : nice decor but the food is a different matter all together... food-I decided to go the teriyaki salmon and my partner went the saien soba, meals arrived at different times so i found myself eating while my partner was still awaiting her meal. the fish was quite tough, not what i expect from a cut of fresh salmon, it came with a few stems of bok choy and nothing else. my first reaction was...where's the rest of it?! needless to say that was it. upon entering we were told that credit cards weren't being accepted, eftpos was not being accepted and all transactions were to be cash...had to take a 5min walk up Rockeby Rd to the ATM. the biggest disappointment was yet to come...when i asked for warm sake the reply was astonishing, 'we don't have any sake' what kind of establishment, which markets itself, as a Japanese restaurnt has no sake? ended up making do with Kirin beer. the atmosphere was pretty ecclectic, music was a little overbearing for my liking, the staff were friendly enough, though having spent alot of time in Japan i'd hasten to say the Japanese would be horrified with this place. definitely not value for money, i could've bought a slice of salmon and cooked the exact same meal for $10. all up, i wouldn't eat at this place again, Taka's, Jaws & Fuji sushi station offer better value for money. :: [original context]
16-10-2006 : Libby : I agree. I know the philosophy is to share food at Wagamama but I still think they should make more of an effort to bring each table's food out at roughly the same time. Eating in a big group here is pretty tricky unless you enjoy eating on your own. Like the review says, the food is pretty average. I really don't understand why people que to get in - there are far better places that are better value near by. :: [original context]
