02-07-2009 : Libby : I had a lovely casual lunch with friends overlooking Claisbrook inlet at Toast. The menu is predominantly breakfast fare but is suitable for lunch as well. I had the crepes filled with bacon, spinach ...[more]

28-07-2009 : ruby_m : The coffee at Toast is great and there are some super tasty options on the menu. I would particularly recommend the omelettes and crepes. I like that everything is made in house, no trucked in cakes here! It's a lovely place to sit and have a coffee on a sunny morning. :: [original context]

21-07-2009 : chimera : So I was out with a friend looking for a good lunch spot, and we just happened to drive by East Perth, so we decided to give Toast a go. We had the corn fritters with avocado and poached egg, and the herb and mushrooms omelette. We also shared the bircher muesli which was rather bland and lacking. Now I also think the food is decent, but I have to agree with bdc that the menu as well as the specials board boils down to one main theme - breakfast fare. The coffee was alright, and while the proportions are decent, its definitely overpriced. I'd still go back for breakfast though, I think they offer a wide variety on terms of breakfast choices which is a welcome change in East Perth. :: [original context]
21-07-2009 : bdc : Evan - you're singing my song. Sounds like a few of us are down this way. I've worked in East Perth for about 5 years now and every day it takes ages to decide where to go for lunch... We're tired of the decent options and there are only a few of them. :: [original context]
20-07-2009 : chimera : Sounds nice guys. Personally I enjoy Ba Ba Black's for brekky, but there's probably a bit more loyalty involved for me =). Still, sounds like its worth a try. :: [original context]
20-07-2009 : evan : FWIW, I started a new job about 9 months ago in EP and found the casual, quality lunch options depressing. Toast has been my saviour. I eat there almost every day, and the lunch specials (written up on the blackboard, maybe you missed them bdc) great value and always tasty. As for Ba Ba's, both the food and coffee at Toast leave them for dead. If you live or work around EP I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Toast. :: [original context]
17-07-2009 : bdc : I just went. Thought I'd give the new local place a try. Look, its a nice enough place and the food is fine - but for me I'd stick to Toast for breakfast. It really is an all day breakfast place and, while I broadly agree with Libby, the food really didn't make for a substantial lunch nor did it represent good value IMHO. I had the scrambled eggs on rye. The eggs were nice, the bread was nice - but it wasn't exactly a filling lunch at $15.90. :: [original context]
