08-05-2007 : aholly : I recently dined at Jackson's with a large group. It was my first, and will be my last experiance there. The staff made every effort to ensure that we knew we were bloody lucky to be eating there. Requests for particular wines were dismissed as being unsuitable to acompany certain dishes (excuse me, who is the customer?). Dishes were served with no explanation of the kooky ingredients. Service, if it can be called that, was sanctimonious and snotty. And by the way, the only thing worse than a waiter with dirty hands is one with grotty gloves. 11-07-2006 : wopfr3 : I have been to Jackson's on quite a number of occasions and have always been happy with the food, service and atmosphere. However, since having the "dego" on my previous two visits, ordering al la carte does not compare. The balanced nature of the multiple courses, together with perfectly matched wines, is hard to replicate when ordering from the full menu. You know what they say about not being able to go back once you have had better? For me and Jackson's Degustation menu, it is definitely the case. :: [original context]
