24-05-2009 : j2aney : It was absolutely appalling. Upon arriving, I was pleased with the location with a lovely view of the river and open view through the glass windows surrounding the restaurant. As I walked in th...[more]
17-03-2009 : Mayo : What a great place! After reading the other reviews which were very dated, I had to submit my experience! Well for starters Incontro is no longer a Cafe! I had the most amazing meal there two weeks ag...[more]
31-03-2008 : D.Lazenby : Oh the disappointment – In Contro promised so much but failed to deliver… We arrived on time – the older woman that met me at the door was less than welcoming, she seemed harrassed and pointed to a...[more]

16-07-2006 : mel : oh why oh why do I bother dining in Perth? After visiting incontro I bleet/cry/wail to myself. My friend and I ordered a Farmhouse Plate each for breakfast. $11.00 for two small pieces of bread, a qu...[more]

30-06-2009 : chimera : Looks like some things never change. No surprises here. Just when I thought I'd go back to give it another shot. :: [original context]
05-04-2009 : Tony : Apart from offensive or abusive comments anything goes on this site, it is an open forum and I want people to say whatever they think. If people think you are a spy committing culinary espionage, then you shall be exposed! Let me add some more fuel to the fire; your defence of the aforementioned accusations seem to imply some kind of truth to the original subject. Perhaps not a staff member, but you mention you have ‘mates in the game’. I vet every review that gets submitted; I have deleted dozens of suspect ones too full of praise with a distinct lack of content or overly harsh ones with outlandish claims of trips to the hospital after eating certain dishes. :: [original context]
04-04-2009 : Mayo : Guys, This is totally inappropriate saying that I am a staff member, where do you get off! I think constructive critasisum is a great thing but to completely bag the place like I had read in the past is outright wrong! Im sure this isnt the only resturant that has been dissed on this site, but there is a fine line crossed when you turn people off a restaurant because of your one experience good or bad! I think all restaurants have felt the pinch over the last few years with staffing I know I have mates in the game. Dont lower your expectations just dont make a judgement on one experience! :: [original context]
04-04-2009 : Mayo : And by the way I had the Fish of the Day which was pink snapper and my freind enjoyed the Crustacean Plate which came from the Pizza Oven! :: [original context]
04-04-2009 : cross : Hey slow down, nobody actually accused you of being an insider. Its just that we have had a few questionable reviews lately. Maybe a few things could have been worded a bit differently from both parties? I hope this response to your review dosn't discourage you to submit future reviews or discussion as that would be ashame.. :: [original context]
04-04-2009 : chimera : Tony mentioned before that many restaurant staff submit reviews to boost business, especially during such a time.. You can't blame us for being curious towards a few of them.. Like cross mentioned, I don't think we made any accusations, just raised a few questions that's all.. No offense but you're being really defensive here.. You were certainly in place when you mentioned the need for people to grow up..? p/s: You mentioned you had a party of 4, what did your other two mates have just out of curiosity..? :: [original context]
19-03-2009 : Tony : That's what I suspected at first loki. Coupled with cross's first comment, it does smell a bit fishy. Bias reviews tend to mention all the food or none of the food, but state everything was fantastic. :: [original context]
19-03-2009 : chimera : Agreed.. Having only good comments completely defeats the purpose of a food review site in the first place.. Reading it in the light of 'this-smells-a-little-fishy' context kind of puts a whole new perspective on the review........ Each sitting basically means that a restaurant would have multiple bookings at similar time slots.. Does this give them an excuse to take longer to serve..?? No.... Its up to any establishment not to overload themselves at anytime... So because Perth is underserviced we should lower our expectations when dining out..?? Even so, I think many other restaurants are NOT showing signs of such a situation... :: [original context]
18-03-2009 : cross : Thats great! For such a top score its a shame you didnt mention what you had for your mains.. :: [original context]
18-03-2009 : chimera : "I think these people need to grow up if you havent got something good to say about something then dont say anything at all!" -->While I won't doubt the possibility that after this long the service may have changed (possibly improving from the abysmal standard long ago..), I don't think its very nice to devalue the dining experiences of other people who dined here - good or bad... Then again, like I said, maybe they really have picked up their game...?? Who knows.. "Everyone always complains saying how the food takes a long time and Im sure everyone wants a booking at 7.30pm so like it or not when everyone walks in together someone is going to have to wait" -->In my opinion, this is the responsibility of the floor staff, in that the orders are taken in an orderly fashion, well spaced apart, so as to not overload the kitchen all at once.. Drinks can be served first, and maybe nibbles like bread or dips.. :: [original context]
18-03-2009 : bdc : I think people need to remember that this is a review site. If people only say good things it loses its value somewhat. Also, restaurants - like most service industry businesses - need to carefully manage client expectations. If you tell a client their food will be five minutes and its twenty - not too happy. If you tell a client that it'll be twenty minutes, they accept that, then it comes out in fifteen - happy client. Always under promise and over deliver IMHO. :: [original context]
18-03-2009 : Tony : I concur bdc. "if you havent got something good to say about something then dont say anything at all!" While that is a good philosophy for engaging in light conversation, I don't think it relates to restaurant reviews as well. :: [original context]
18-03-2009 : cross : I can't agree with you guys enough! I don't think there are many reviews out there that have not given some form of critisism, constructive or not. :: [original context]
18-03-2009 : loki : Somehow, this review sounds like it may have been posted by an Incontro insider / staff... But then again, I see conspiracy theories everywhere.. :: [original context]
31-03-2008 : chimera : Hi D. Lazenby, Sorry to hear about your bad experience.. If I had to guess the older woman was the same person who was very very rude to us.. I guess some people just have no idea on providing good service.. Or being nice.. I guess we can close the book on In Contro, in the conclusion that it probably is the worst, if not one of the worst places to dine at in Perth... :: [original context]
30-03-2008 : D.Lazenby : Oh the disappointment – In Contro promised so much but failed to deliver… :: [original context]
03-08-2007 : mel : Hi Chimera, This is a huge shame especially given the location. I hope they view this website and sort themselves out. I'm glad you tried it even though I gave it a bad review. mel :: [original context]
03-08-2007 : chimera : I guess it was just curiosity.. Anyone who's been there will easily realize how much potential the place has, it truly is a shame that they failed at taking advantage of this.. :: [original context]
19-07-2007 : mel : I think this place is always packed because of the location: and perhaps the diners are one time diners, not return diners. Completely contradicting myself here - I did go back to this restaurant in January 2007 and had Eggs Benedict that were good and the service was a lot better. :: [original context]
25-10-2006 : chimera : Despite the terrible review, and that one comment, the place always seems to be packed..? Something must be good there.. Will have to try it myself one day.. =) :: [original context]
13-10-2006 : Phase 2 : "Service" at incontro feels like you are a big inconvenience for them. The food is nice but you can make it yourself for cheaper at home. Also the din is incredible. Can't hear each other. Don't like this place a lot. There is a multitude of better Perth eateries. :: [original context]
